Taking influences from a variety of sources – including hip hop, orchestral, funk, electronic and jazz – they say their music is ‘alternative with a groove’. They released debut album Suite(s) in 2009, and are currently working on a second album, due out later in the year.

Now they’ve put out the single Teenage Eyes, taken from the EP Cut(s) which came out towards the end of 2010.

Ex Libras have just released a new single. Not, they’re not giving that away. But so keen are they to encourage Classic Rock readers to get into their music that they are exclusively giving another song to you lot for free. That’s why this is the current Track Of The Day. Check out all the latest Tracks Of The Day.

The band, who are no strangers to Track Of The Day, were actually formed in Houslow Public Library, where the three guys (guitarist/vocalist Amit Sharma, bassist/keyboard player Kieran Nagi and drummer Ross Kenning) worked together. Soon afterwards, they were linking rock with loops, beats and various oddball noises.

Taking influences from a variety of sources – including hip hop, orchestral, funk, electronic and jazz – they say their music is ‘alternative with a groove’. They’ve just released the new single Underachiever, from debut album Suite(s), which was released last year. You may buy that here.

However, the band are working on a new album, and you have the chance to get the song Audio Video Disco for free right now. Download this right here.

Williamson’s work has adorned album sleeves by Marillion, Fish, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Europe, to name but a few.

…And Marillion themselves feature on the front cover of the wallet of the new issue too.

There’s an overall arty feel to the latest issue, with Marillion, Muse, Jethro Tull and Curved Air among the bands discussing the ways in which ‘prog art’ has changed over the years.

Of course, such an issue couldn’t be discussed without input from Roger Dean and Storm Thorgerson.

We also unveil the winners of the 2009 Readers’ Poll, there’s the Critics’ Choice Albums Of the Year – and there are exclusive interviews with Todd Rundgren, Transatlantic, The Pineapple Thief, Big Big Train, Magenta, Karnivool, Ex Libras and Yak, as well as the final ever interview with the late Eric Woolfson of the Alan Parsons Project.

The new issue also carries all the details you’ll need to know about subscribing to Classic Rock Presents Prog.

Three guys who met in a library, take influences from jazz, orchestral music and jamming? Sounds like Ex Libras, who provide today’s Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.

The trio of Amit Sharma (guitar, vocals), Kieran Nagi (piano, bass) and Ross Kenning (drums) got together in Hounslow Public Library where they worked, and discovered – quietly – a mutual love for expansive music, the sort that has no boundaries. “It’s alternative music with groove,” they say.

Their debut album, Suite(s), was recorded in a Shed…well, that’s what they call their home studio. It takes inspiration from Radiohead their ilk before flying off into improbably directions. This is progressively ambient music with a taste for the unexpected. This is to be released on November 30 by Wirebird Records.

If you enjoy the idea of rock music with loops, beats and a sense of improvisation, then download the song Radar for free at www.exlibras.co.uk/player.html

You may also get the video for Radar gratis at http://vimeo.com/6858031

For further info on the band, go to www.exlibras.co.uk
