The new issue of Classic Rock features a rundown of the 50 Worst Albums Ever.

From incomprehensibly awful solo records to ill-advised dabblings with gay disco, it’s a litany of disaster that shows exactly what happens when albums go bad. Inside the issue, you can find the likes of Kiss’s Gene Simmons, Queen’s Brian May and Keith Emerson of ELP defending – or in some cases, apologising for – their actions.

Over the next few days, we’ll take a closer look at all 50 of these solid gold stinkers here on the Classic Rock website. And once you’ve taken these frankly indigestible offerings, we you to tell us what your worst albums are.

Day 3 of our series is dedicated to the crappest covers albums ever unleashed on the world. Strap in, it’s going to be a bumpy ride…

Check out Day 1 here and Day 2 here.

1 Ozzy Osbourne – Under Cover
Gawd bless Ozzy – he’s a national treasure. But somebody should have had a word with him before he decided to cover – well, murder – the likes of King Crimson’s 21st Century Schizoid Man and Mott The Hoople’s All The Young Dudes. You can read Ozzy’s attempts to explain away the new album in the current issue of Classic Rock.

Redeeming track: A surprisingly heartfelt version of John Lennon’s Working Class Hero. Sadly, that’s not on YouTube, so here’s him having a bash at The Beatles’ In My Life.

2 Guns N’ Roses – The Spaghetti Incident?
The year is 1993 and you’re the biggest band in the world. What do you do? If you’re Guns N’ Roses, you record a collection of half-arsed covers of songs by the likes of the Misfits and The UK Subs. Oh, and you throw in a ‘controversial’ rhumba-paced cover of Charles Manson’s Look At Your Game, Girl for good measure. Cheers, Axl!

Redeeming track: Duff McKagan’s sozzled take on Johnny Thunders’ You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory. Go, pissed bass fella!

3 Bon Jovi – This Left Feels Right
There was nothing wrong with their titanic pop rock anthems, but they decided to break them anyway. Cue a stripped-down acoustic album in which the ‘Jove’ tackle their own back catalogue. Badly. If you’ve ever wondered what You Give Love A Bad Name would sound like if it was reimagined as a stripped-down duet with D-list actress Olivia D’Abo, here’s your answer: rubbish.

Redeeming track: Blood On Blood – and even that only appears on the bonus DVD!

4 Scott Weiland – The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
You’d have thought the Scott Weiland and all things white and powdery would have been a marriage made in heaven. Oh no – this absolutely hatstand album of ‘festive’ covers is possibly the craziest thing he’s ever done. And that’s saying something. Don’t believe us? How about a reggae version of O! Holy Night.

Redeeming track: His Sinatra-tastic version of White Christmas.

Now it’s your turn. We want you to tell us the albums you think are worse than the ones on our list. Email your nomination, with a few words as to why it’s such a stinker, to classicrock@futurenet.com, headed ‘The Real Worst Album Ever’. We’ll print the best suggestions in the next issue of Classic Rock.

Come back tomorrow for more on the 50 Worst Albums Ever. The new issue of Classic Rock, featuring the full list of all 50 albums, is out now.

Reports of Jon Bon Jovi’s death have proven to be totally false.

And if that doesn’t appear newsworthy, then the official announcement that he’s alive and well comes after internet frenzy yesterday (December 19), when it was falsely reported that the singer had been found dead at his home in New Jersey.

The report claimed that paramedics responded to a 911 call and rushed JBJ to hospital after they found him unable to breathe. But he subsequently went into cardiac arrest and died.

However, Jon immediately responded to this report via his Twitter account. He posted the photo below, along with the comment: ‘Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey. December 19th 2011 6:00.’

So Bon Jovi fans can rest easy – Jon hasn’t gone out in a blaze of glory.

UPDATE: Jeffrey Goho of Philadephia band Munutia has now admitted starting the ‘Jon Bon Jovi Is Dead’ rumour. Goho claims he did it, because he wants the man to concentrate on singing rather than other activities.

“It was like, ‘Jeez, (Bon Jovi) was a household name due to the music, not the business’, he told the Asbury Park Press. “I’m not proud of it. I’m getting a lot of backlash from it, but as stupid as it sounds, that’s how it started. I just had a blurb and went with it.”

Cynic might suggest this was a way to get his own band some attention.

AOR’s latest front cover celebrates the 25th anniversary of the release of Bon Jovi’s career-defining Slippery When Wet album.

The year is 1986 – and it’s make-or-break time for Jon and his band, following the disappointing sales of their second album, 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit. In an epic 12-page feature, Malcolm Dome recalls how New Jersey’s most ambitious met Desmond Child and aimed for the sky…

Elsewhere in the issue:

Ultimate Power – Join us as we visit the hot new club-night where nothing’s cooler than a Meat Loaf power ballad…

Warrant – Following Jani Lane’s untimely death, we revisit happier times for the group who gave us classics like Cherry Pie and Down Boys.

America – How a trio of ex-pat Yanks based in England managed to evoke the epic American West and confuse a bunch of Neil Young fans in the process.

Coney Hatch – Named after a notorious mental instituion, we retrace the Canadians’ story, in advance of their Firefest appearance.

Firefest – Providing a showcase for the world’s greatest melodic rock music and reuniting some of the scene’s most dearly-missed groups, the people behind the festival (the latest of which is due to take place this October in Nottingham) are true AOR heroes. Meet them…

Bai Bang – Stalwart Swedish sleazers with a melodic twist, Bai Bang went from supporting Bros at a Polish festival to delivering glam-rock brilliance.

Diane Warren – We get to know the woman with a legitimate claim to having penned the world’s greatest power ballads.

Franke & The Knockouts – Franke Previte was Jon Bon Jovi’s favourite singer, but true success eluded him – until the producers
of the Dirty Dancing movie came a-calling.

All this, plus additional features on FM, Toby Hitchcock, Newman, Lionville, Kimball-Jamison, Peter Beckett, House Of Lords and Mark Slaughter.

The latest albums from Foreigner, XorigiN, Sebastian Bach, Work Of Art, Issa and White Widdow are reviewed. Plus reissues from Stan Bush, Riggs, REO Speedwagon and more. Not to mention live reviews of Toto, Chicago, Cinderella, Night Ranger and Motley Crue.

As if that’s not enough, there’s a free CD called Get Your Wings featuring 15 hot tracks from FM, Issa, White Widdow, Kimball-Jamison, Riverdogs, Serpentine, House Of Lords, Newman, Sebastian Bach, Fergie Frederiksen, SEKS, Soley Mourning, Hercules, GURU and Knock Out Kaine.

Richie Sambora’s model girlfriend, Yamsin Mitri, has been the subject of a tabloid sting operation, which is alleged to have proof that she offered to buy drugs for an undercover reporter and said she would sleep with him for cash.

The operation was launched by the News Of The World, who claim that Mitri said to their reporter:

“I like coke. I started doing it five months ago. It’s £50 a gram. You have to order two grams. If you order some now, it’ll be 20 minutes.”

She then apparently offered sex to the same man for a large sum of cash.

Mitri also spoke about her relationship with Sambora:

“My boyfriend is a famous musician. Do you know Bon Jovi band? Richie Sambora? I’ve been with him for over a year and a half. He lives in LA but we speak to each other all the time and he sends me presents.”

There’s more here.

Sambora recently took a break from touring with Bon Jovi to seek treatment for his alcohol problems. The guitarist checked into a rehab unit in Los Angeles in April and was forced to pull out of a series of shows. But he is now back playing with the band.

Sambora was previously married to actress Heather Locklear but they divorced in 2007.

The guitarist has checked into rehab, and it’s not known when he’ll rejoin the band, who’ve issued the following statement:

“Our support for Richie is absolute. He is, and will remain, a member of Bon Jovi. Although he will be absent from upcoming shows for the time being, we very much look forward to his healthy return. In the meantime, we will keep our commitment to our fans and continue our tour.”

Sambora is being temporarily replaced by Phil X (real name Phil Xenidis). In the past, he’s worked with Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Triumph and Daughty. What’s not currently known is whether Sambora will be back with Jovi in time for Jovi’s UK dates.
