How many guitarists does it take to play Smoke On The Water?

More than 2,000 guitarists will gather in Kansas City on June 3 to perform a version of Deep Purple’s Smoke On The Water, attempting to break the world record for the most number of people playing the same song at the same time.

John Alderete of Racer X has revealed that he is seeking treatment for a rare blood disease called Polycythemia Vera. The bassist is working to raise awareness for a charity that seeks to cue the condition. For information go to: www.mpdfoundation.org/donations.htm.

Philadelphia rockers Britny Fox have reunited for a US tour. With other commitments, guitarist Michael Kelly Smith and drummer Johnny Dee are temporarily replaced by Tommy Krash and ex-White Lion drummer Greg D’Angelo respectively.

Bassist Michael Todd has re-joined Coheed & Cambria in time for the recording of their fourth album, to be called No World For Tomorrow. It’s being produced by Nick Rasculinecz (Foo Fighters/Rush) for release later this year.
