Wrathchild Set To Release ‘Stakk Attakk Two’

Wrathchild, the godfathers of glam metal, are poised to return with a new line-up and album.

The Evesham-based band – formerly known as Psychowrath – feature Marc Angel (bass, backing vocals and keyboards), Eddie Star (drums, backing vocals), Phil ‘Tyger’ Wrathchild (guitar, backing vocals) and Gaz ‘Psychowrath’ Harris (lead vocals).

They explain: “Psychowrath has changed the band name to Wrathchild (Wrathchild UK for the States) and has legally registered the trademarks for these titles.

“We feel that we are doing a great job of carrying on the legacy of a great 80s glam rock group and look forward to entertaining you as Wrathchild from here on out.

“We’re de-toxed, Bo-toxed and bakk for the attakk.”

Longtime Wrathchild fans will be distressed to see that Eddie Starr has shortened his surname to ‘Star’.

Fans will also be confused by the fact that another version of Wrathchild, with Rocky Shades as frontman, is playing the Hard Rock Hell festival in December.

The Angel/Star/Wrathchild/Harris version of Wrathchild claim:

“Useage of the marks Wrathchild and/or Wrathchild UK is now only permissible by the registered owners. The ownerships of the marks are registered to Messrs Angel, Star and Wrathchild only. Our former frontman Rocky Shades has been informed of this.

“We respectfully suggest that Rocky Shades be billed as a solo artist [at Hard Rock Hell] or by some other reference which does not give the impression that Wrathchild/Wratchchild UK are appearing with him.

“We wish to put on record that Shades resigned from the band in 1990 leaving behind a heavy financial burdern and outstanding commitments to be faced by the remaining members.”

Wrathchild’s new album is called Stakk Attakk Two. The first 500 copies will be special limited editions featuring signed copies plus a one-off unique segment torn from the band’s original recording contract with Heavy Metal Records.

Signed and witnessed in 1984, the contract saw the release of Wrathchild’s original Stakk Attakk album.

However, when RCA America wished to sign Wrathchild from Heavy Metal Records later that year, “one of the most documented standoffs in the history of rock’n’roll ensued”.

According to Wrathchild, it’s “one of the most infamous recording contracts ever signed – buy up all 500 copies and own the entire contract!”

Wratchchild’s first official performance will be at the Rock Of Ages Festival, Canning Town, London on November 21.
