Woodstock 2009 Set For New York And Berlin
Woodstock Festival is due to return this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Woodstock is going to hit both New York and Berlin in August 2009. According to promoter Michael Lang, the New York festival will take place exactly on the 40th anniversary, August 15-16th, while the Berlin event will be from August 22-23rd at an abandoned airport. The exact location for the U.S. festival has not been determined as of yet and neither have the acts set to fit the bill.
Hailed as the ultimate “peace and love” festival in 1969, this reputation was turned on its head after the violence and riots that were supposedly incited by bands such as Limp Bizkit, Insane Clown Posse and Kid Rock when the festival returned for it’s 30th anniversary show in 1999.
Regardless, the organisers have claimed they wish to recruit more of the headliners from the original 1969 line-up, namely Grateful Dead, The Who and Santana.

how can they move it from its original place to another city and country and call it woodstock?just to rake the cash in no doubt.
the first one wasnt even woodstock
this months issue mentions a spinoff mag classicrock presents prog. How can we get hold of it and more details if we are classicrock subscribers? Can it be ordered online?
I agree with manticore…and on the same note, why did they call that other festival “Rock in Rio Lisbon”, and not simply “Rock in Lisbon”?
i have a couple questions… is it for sure going to be in new york? is there an age limit or can children go? when are the exact dates? how much does it cost? and like whos playing?
check woodstock in kostrzyn in poland .this is best open air festival in the faqin world.believe me.

Yeah, sounds like a nice idea with the berlin woodstock thing, although I agree that it could be read as a money thing. I live close to Germany, and I’ve heard that tickets are for free, so all I need to do is find the cheapest means of transport. But it would be nice to know what bands are playing where, though. I would very much like to see Neil Young and Crazy Horse, but also The Who and Grateful Dead sound interesting, eventhough I hardly know any of these bands. Can anyone tell me where to find out more about which bands are playing where, if tickets are really for free, etc., etc.
The show in Berlin is not going to happen, sorry! I alrready booked my ticket to Berlin and I fell a little betrayed by Mr. Michael Lang, shame on you!!!
