Is American Idol Runner-Up Queen’s New Frontman?
First Velvet Revolver… and now Queen. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is rumoured to be in the frame to succeed Paul Rodgers in a band that would presumably be called (…cue complex mathematical equation…) Q+AL.
Lambert performed with Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor during American Idol’s finale last week.
Rolling Stone asked May about rumours of the group offering Lambert the Queen gig, following the dissolution of Q+PR (Queen + Paul Rodgers).
“Amongst all that furore, there wasn’t really a quiet moment to talk,” May said.
“But Roger Taylor and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point.
“It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy.
“But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”
Lambert also impressed Slash when the Velvet Revolver guitarist acted as a mentor to contestants on an earlier episode of American Idol.
