Wilko Johnson joins Frantic Four tour
Wilko Johnson will support Status Quo’s Frantic Four line-up on six shows of their final tour.
The terminally ill guitarist continues to work despite doctors having predicted his cancer would kill him by last October.
He’s just confirmed the release of an album, Going Back Home, with Who singer Roger Daltrey. Now he’ll open some of the last shows to be played by the Francis Rossi, Rick Parriff, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan line-up.
Johnson says he’s delighted to be “working with the mighty Quo”.
Rossi says: “Wilko is a true British original. We’re delighted to have him on the road with us, and we know the Quo audience will welcome him and his band with open arms. My advice to the fans is: get there early – you don’t want to miss this.”
Quo last week announced the launch of their own beer, which ties in with the re-release of their classic Piledriver album. The 21st-century line-up of the band will play this year’s Download festival.
