Weiland in stage fight invite
Fired Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland invited a member of his audience on stage to fight him on Saturday night.
A video clip shows the wayward musician – who’s touring a set of STP classics with his solo band the Wildabouts – stopping his show in New York City to remonstrate after an unidentified person upset him.
As a security guard tried to maintain order and his bandmates stood waiting to restart the performance, Weiland said: “So you’re fucking pulling that fucking, like, gun shit off on me? Then come up and meet me one on one, man.
“You play tough guy from an audience behind a barricade. I’d love to. Yeah, that guy, trust me.
“I just don’t get it. Guys like you fucking waste your money.” Then he added to the security staff: “Actually, let him stay here and just get all fucking riled up. He won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
Weiland recently denied he’d been fired by STP despite their statement that they’d “terminated” their agreement with him. He insisted it wasn’t possible for them to sack him and suggested it was a publicity stunt.
In 2012 he claimed a VR reunion was on the cards, prompting guitarist Slash to state the pair would never work together again.
