Van Halen In The Studio – It’s True!
It appears that the rumours of a new Van Halen album are right on the money.
An official statement from the band’s publishers, Warner/Chappell Music, not only confirms that their agreement with Eddie and Alex Van Halen has been extended, but tellingly ends with the following line:
‘The group is currently in the studio recording an album with [David Lee] Roth that is due for release in 2011.’
This would be the band’s first studio album with Diamond Dave since 1984.

I went over to see their reunion tour with Roth in Las Vegas in 2007 and they were awesome so I really hope they keep it together and actually deliver this album! Yeah it would be great to see them back in the UK…. Can I be the first to start the Van Halen for Download 2011 rumours????
yeah 84 was there last appearance in the uk ,but no tour since 80
Van Halen are the type of bands young bands should emulate not wimpy primitive metallica-megadeth-slayer-numetal-grunge and assorted craps!
It’d be interesting to hear what type of music will come out of these sessions……hopefully they don’t force the late 70’s early 80’s sound and play what comes naturally.

I doubt very much we’ll get a tour of any description as they will tour the US to death with a new album so I wouldn’t hold my breath for a Donington appearance either in 2011.

Sorry to pop anyone’s bubble, but this Van Halen “reunion” appears no more likely than the Led Zeppelin reunion tour that was reported (and then retracted) in the wake of Zep’s O2 reunion gig a few years ago. Has anyone actually seen a copy of the alleged Warner-Chappel press release that is being cited? (When I asked for a copy — as part of my job as the music critic for the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper — Warner-Chappell was unable to provide one, and the alleged press release posted online, via Twitter, conspicuously fails to quote any member of Van Halen, past or present. Whether it’s a hoax or a deliberately leaked faux press release to fuel reunion buzz, it would be nice if there was even a hint of official confirmation from the Van Halen camp. So far, there is none.

Let’s hope Dave hasn’t got LSD lead singer disease as Eddie termed it! UK & Europe looks unlikely but so does Roth with VH for any space of time.

Ok, I will play Devil’s advocate here – when was the last truly good Van Halen album (I would argue 1984, which was recorded in 1983)? Can you blame all the mediocre Van Halen albums since on Sammy or Gary? I say no – I’m just not sure Eddie (the heart and soul of the band) can write songs like he used to.
I hope they prove me wrong, but even if the album comes out, I’m not expecting much.

We pray for a new Van Halen record soon. And please bring VanHalen to Winnipeg at Godspeed. The last tour they were supposed to go to Winnipeg in Canada, you know the spot. You also remember the day that the tickets were to go onsale… the tour was postponed due to Eddie’s health. Please help us Lord. We pray that Eddie’s healthy now (whatever the health concern was)…We pray that you watch over Alex and give him strength (I know what dealing with a younger brother can be like)… Keep Wolfie on the straight and narrow with the lodd needed curve as he’s gotta be close to graduating high school and I know that age real well (man that kid can play, guitar as well)…and finally We pray that you keep Dave singing like the Angel that we pray he aspires to be!!
