Tracks Of The Day: Lightning Strikes/Devilrock Four

Right now, the Australian rock scene is pumped-up and thriving. Rawk is big and bursting Down Under. So, over the next several days, we’ll be giving you the chance to download free tracks from some of the hottest young talents currently bouncing across Oz. Today it’s The Lightning Strikes and The Devilrock Four. Check out all the latest Tracks Of The Day here.

Let’s start with The Lightning Strikes. What do they offer? Frenzied fuzz guitars against a backdrop of pure decadence that’ll bring you to your knees. Oh, and give you a right adrenaline rush! Apparently bassist Bretthereberock is a right old (or young) rock dog! The rest of the band are Todd Trevor (vocals/guitar), Jonny Driver (bass) and Joel Ellis (drums).

The band have a split seven-inch single coming out in April, with Midnight Woolf. The Melbourne madmen say this is of ‘Paleolithic proportions’. Now, that is a titanic promise.

As for The Devilrock Four, they’re also from Melbourne and they rock – very loudly! Many are tipping this four-piece to follow Airbourne to international success. Formed in 2003, they’ve got Jonnny Driver (vocals/guitar – yep, the man’s also in The Lightning Strikes), K.C. Treasure (vocals/guitar), Jimi Richardson (bass/vocals) and Jamie Coghill (drums). Their influences range across AC/DC (shock!), Aerosmith, Cheap Trick and The Cult.

They recently released an album titled First In Line on Zatzit Records, and have also done a split seven-inch single with Hell City Glamours. Oh, and there’s also a homemade EP floating around. Released in 2004, it’s become something of a rarity, having sold out very fast.
