Tracks Of The Day: Dreadnaught/Galvatrons
In the world of Classic Rock, it’s Australia day every day right now. We’re offering free download tracks from some of the hottest talents currently smoking those Bondi Cigars (cobber!) and throwing down smart riffs and roustabout anthems. Today we offer you the duo of Dreadnaught and The Galvatrons. Check out all the latest Tracks Of The Day here.
Let’s kick off with Dreanaught, one of Oz’s longest-running bands, with roots entrenched in classic thrash metal. This lot started in Melbourne 15 years ago, since which time they’ve put out four albums. One of these, 1999’s Down To Zero, even got a UK release! Last year, the band issued a self-titled record, which you can buy through iTunes or at www.dreadnaught.com.au
The current line-up – Greg Trull (vocals), Damon Alcock and Richie Poate (guitar), Ango McDougall (bass) and Matt Racovalis (drums) – constantly tour Down Under, where they’re regarded as mainstays of the metal scene.

Onwards to The Galvatrons. You might already be familiar with them, as they’ve played at both the Download Festival and Hyde Park with The Police. They’re described as a mix of Van Halen and Devo, stadium-destined rockers with heads and feet firmly planted in 1984.
Taking their name from the movie The Transformers, the band formed in August 2007, and quickly had a big hit in Australia with When We Were Kids. The following year, they opened for Def Leppard and Cheap Trick on their Aussie tour. In 2009, they released debut album Laser Graffiti on the Warners label.
Currently the foursome – Johnny Galvatron (vocals/guitar), Condor (bass), Gamma (keyboard) and Boz (drums) – are writing songs for their new album.
