Tracks Of The Day: Bugdust/The Pictures

Today, we continue our ongoing series of Oz rock downloads with two more of the hottest names on the scene right now. So, let’s meet Bugdust and The Pictures, who provide the latest tracks of the day. Check out all the recent Tracks Of The Day here.

Let’s kick off with Bugdust, a foursome from Melbourne who love Motley Crue so much they’ve even got a song called Girls, Girls, Girls! Their sound is described as ‘a two-fisted punch of sweat-soaked anthems… big guitars and dirty lyrics are the order of day’. The band’s debut album, Welcome To The City Of The Snakes, was produced by the veteran and respected Neil Kernon, It leaves you in no doubt as to why Adam and Shan (guitar/vocals), Jimi (bass) and J.T. (drums) are described as one of Australia’s loudest stage smashing bands.

The aforementioned album was recorded on the Mexican border. So, it’s appropriate that you can get the song Mexican Death Squad for free here.

On to The Pictures. Again based in Melbourne, they feature guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Davey Lane, who’s also with alt. rockers You Am I. The other permanent member is bassist/vocalist Luke Thomas. Their sound owes a lot to The Who… in fact, they put on a damn fine live show that would make Pete Townshend stand to attention, with haircuts and a dress sense that shouts (loudly) 1968. The band have released two albums to date, the latest of which is Kicking Indifference, released in 2008.

Download the song The Lion’s Share Of You for free here.

Oooh and I’ve just moved to Melbourne from the UK with work.. Shame I can’t pick the magazine up cheap haha!!

Melbourne’s music scene has totally flabbergasted me. And I’ve lived in London and Manchester. It is one of the most rock and roll places ever, no pretentious idiots, just awesome music. The whole 70s Blues/proggy/trippy sound is huge over here.

check out babyjane from australia too
