Track Of The Day: WildeStarr

Ah, the glory days of the 1980s, when blazing power metal guitar gods meant the likes of David T. Chastain. So it comes as no surprise that there is a Chastain connection with WildeStarr, the American’s who provide the latest Track Of The Day. The Chastain reference comes from guitarist Dave Starr, who played bass on the 2004 album In An Outrage. And the engineer on that project was one London Wilde (don’t you just love those retro stage names?!). The pair started to talk about working together, the result being WildeStarr, with Wilde playing keyboards as well as strutting her stuff in front of the microphone, while Starr plays all bass and guitar parts.

With drummer Jim Hawthorne completing the line-up, the band have just released debut album Arrival. So, what can fans expect?

“Most people say we sound like a combination of Judas Priest, Vicious Rumors (Starr was bassist with that Bay Area bunch from 1986-1993, and then again for a year from 2005), Queensryche, Crimson Glory and Black Sabbath. For us, the WildeStarr sound is about huge, layered harmony guitars, soaring, powerful vocals, great melodies and a thick, fat sound that is both polished and raw at the same time.”
