Track Of The Day: Wig Wam
It’s time to go all Norwegian for our latest Track Of The Day. This comes from melodic hard rockers Wig Wam, who are out to scalp all glam challengers with new album Non Stop Rock And Roll. For all the latest Tracks Of The Day, go here.
Wig Wam started out in 2001, working hard to become one of Norway’s top live draws. In 2004 they released debut album 667 – The Neighbour Of The Beast, which included a cover of Mel C’s Turn To You.
A year later, the band represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song In My Dreams finishing ninth – not quite Lordi-esque! However, the track was a huge hit in their native country, actually making it to the top of the charts.
The same year, the Wiggers released second album Hard To Be A Rock’N'Roller, where their Kiss and Sweet roots became very obvious. And this was followed the following year by the album Wig Wamania, which gave them their first proper Europe-wide distribution.
Now, Glam (vocals) Teeny (guitar), Flash (bass) and Sporty (drums) are back, and determined to live up to their motto that ‘rock is the new schlager’. Time for the Wig Wam to go… bam?!
