Track Of The Day: Wicked Sensation
Wicked Sensation are a Dutch/German combination punch. New album Crystallized is released by Metal Heaven on June 28. A song from it is the latest Track Of The Day. Check out all the Tracks Of The Day.
The band started in 1999, founded by guitarists Michael Klein and Sang Vong. Thanks to Arjen (Ayreon) Lucassen, they brought in vocalist Robert Soeterboek, while they were recording debut album Reflected in 2000.
Released the following year, the album was favourably compared to the likes of Whitesnake and Helloween, as the Wicked Sensation reputation quickly grew. But Soeterboek was replaced by Fernando Garcia for 2003’s Exceptional. He, in turn, was succeeded by Frenchman Boban Milojevic. However, in 2006, Wicked Sensation split up.
Three years later, Klein and Soeterboek got back together as the band returned to action with a line-up now completed by bassist Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69), drummer Dirk Bruinenberg (who has played in Bob Catley’s band) and keyboard player Bernd Spitzner. And Crystallized represents a strong rallying call for all fans of powerful, yet melodic hard rock. With guest appearances from Helloween singer Andi Deris and also that man Arjen Lucassen, it has a strong production from Ward and proves the Sensation are just… erm, sensational.
You can download the song My Turn To Fly (with Deris duetting with Soeterboek) here.
