Track Of The Day: Voodoo Six
Voodoo Six have a new singer. They’ve just finished recording their third album. And the Londoners provide the latest Track Of The Day. Check all the recent Tracks Of The Day here.
The band started in 2003, thanks to founder-members Tony Newton (bass) and Richie Faulkner (guitar). They brought in vocalist Henry Rundell, guitarist Matt Pearce and drummer Dave Cavill. A prestigious slot opening for Iron Maiden at Hammersmith Apollo in 2005 was followed the next year by the release of debut album Feed My Soul. It had no less than Steve Harris of Iron Maiden declaring it to be “the best debut album I’ve heard in years”.
In 2008, second album First Hit For Free maintained the momentum. Since then, Rundell has been replaced by Luke Purdie, and the new line-up have just finished work on their third, as yet untitled album, due to be put out in 2010.
So, what are they all about? It’s classic rock, but with a meltdown melange of melodies. They’ve been compared to Audioslave, Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains – and it’s all true.
But don’t take out word for it, download new song Take The Blame here.
