Touchstone are a five-piece rock band – with undoubted prog inclinations – based in Herts/Oxon, UK. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.

The band are: Kim Seviour on lead vocals, Rob Cottingham on vocals, keys and sfx, Adam Hodgson on guitars, Paul Moorghen on bass and BVs and Al Melville on drums.

Their debut album Discordant Dreams was released in September 2007.

Touchstone have just finished recording their second album, Wintercoast. It features a very special guest appearance by internationally renowned actor, Jeremy Irons.

Guitarist Adam Hodgson – who also designs Touchstone’s album-sleeve artwork – reports: “I had the idea for Wintercoast nine years ago after doing some map illustrations for a chap who did diamond explorations.

“On the map I was drawing was a place in northern Russia called Winter Coast. That name struck a chord with me and I have had the title in my head ever since.

“As writing started for album No.2, I composed a spoken section that I thought would be great as a prelude and dreamt about how cool it would be to get a fantastic voice to narrate this section.

“This is where Jeremy Irons came in, and he agreed to do it. The only problem was the day it all got sorted, he was heading to New York. So after I had laid my guitars down in the studio, I jumped on a plane, armed with a high-end digital recorder, and went to visit Jeremy in Manhattan.

“Jeremy was an absolute dream to work with and as I recorded him reading the lines the hairs on the back of my neck were on end. It was amazing; what a voice. He is an amazing talent and made my words come alive.”

Touchstone’s Track Of The Day is called Zinomorph, which will feature on their upcoming new album Wintercoast.

A superb track from what I feel will be a monumental second album. I look forward to hearing the non-radio-edit version!

I honestly can’t wait for Wintercoast to come out!
