Track Of The Day: Theatre Of Tragedy
Norwegians Theatre Of Tragedy have been on the scene for 17 years. Last year they released the album Forever Is The World, which is about to be reissued. And they provide the new Track Of The Day. Check out all the latest Tracks Of The Day.From Stavanger, the band started as Le Reine Noir, before switching to Theatre Of Tragedy a year later. The current line-up came together in 2003, when vocalist Liv Kristin quit to concentrate on other projects. In came Nell Sigland, previously with The Cresr. She joined Raymond Rohonyi (vocals), Frank Claussen and Vergard K. Thorsen (guitar – presumably Thorsen uses the ‘K’ to differentiate himself from all the other Vegard Thorsens!), Lorentz Aspen (keyboards) and the Heine Frode Hansen (drums).
In 2006, the new look Theatre released the album Storm, which saw them take a turn into a darker and more mystical approach than previously. This was goth metal, but with a considerable degree of individuality. The same is also true of Forever Is The World, although this was even more organic, with less electronic input.
The reissue, out through AFM on March 12, comes with a bonus 10-track EP titled Addenda, which has remixes and extra songs. And the band play The Underworld in London on Sunday, March 14. This is part of a farewell European tour. The band will split up afterwards, so make sure you check ‘em out.
