Track Of The Day: The Bravery
New Yorkers who’ve got a real post-punk vibe – but lashed to the sort of sound that brings back memories of that city’s new wave experimentations in the late 1970s – The Bravery are about to release Stir The Blood, their third album. And we showcase them with our latest Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
The band started out in 2003, formed by frontman Sam Endicott. From Poughkeepsie, Upstate New York, it was only when Endicott moved to NYC that he began to write the music that would lead to The Bravery. With one-time classmate John Conway on keyboards, plus guitarist Michael Zakarin, bassist Mike Hindert and drummer Anthony Burulcich, the line-up quickly got fully functioning.
Relocating to London, where they quickly picked up a buzz, the band released the Unconditional EP in 2004, followed by three chart singles. Their self-titled debut album followed in 2005, after which the band supported U2 and played an infamous set at the Glastonbury Festival, during which Hindert stripped naked!
In March last year, The Bravery released The Sun And The Moon Complete, a two-disc set featuring The Sun (the original Brendan O’Brien produced 12 songs from 2007) and The Moon (the same exact 12 songs, in the same order, but re-imagined and re-worked by the band.
Now The Bravery are back with Stir The Blood.
One track, Spectator, is also on the soundtrack for The Vampire Diaries TV series. Check it out here.
