Track Of The Day: Stage Dolls
Why should you care about Norwegians Stage Dolls? Well, they’ve consistently been one of the most melodic hard rock bands around, and guitarist/vocalist Torstein Flakne has one of the finest name sin rock. Not enough for you? Well, there’s a free track available right now as the current Track Of The Day. Check out all the latest Tracks Of The Day.
The Dolls started in 1982, although they only got the band name in January ’83. It was in 1987, with the release of their self-titled third album, that the trio (Flakne, bassist Terje Storle and drummer Steinar Krokstad) really made their mark, becoming the first Norwegian band, apart from A-Ha, to have chart success in America, Tours with the likes of Magnum, Fish, Warrant and Blue Murder established the Stage Dolls’ global reputation as a significant and creative act.
Although their profile, like many others in the genre, suffered in the ’90s, the trio kept on playing live and releasing albums, with their sixth record, 2004′s Get A Life, putting them back in the charts. Now the band (with Morten Skogstad on drums – he’s been with the band since 1993′s Stripped) have just put out their seventh album, Always, proving that they’re still among the best bands of their style in the world.
