Track Of The Day: Pythia
They’ve got a Mediaeval Baebe on vocals. They are inspired by bands like Opeth, Nightwish, Iron Maiden…and Stan Bush. They are Pythia. They provide our today’s Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
From London, the band features Emily Alice Ovenden (she’s the Baebe, in case you were wondering), guitarist Ross White and drummer Marc Dyos (who were both previously with UK metalheads Descent), guitarist Tim Neale, bassist Andrew Corfield and pianist Richard Holland.
Pythia have already supported such names as Tarja Turunen, Ministry and Fields Of The Nephilim. Last year, they were on the bill for the Dames Of Darkness Festival in Birmingham.
Their debut album, Beneath The Veiled Embrace, is released on October 12. It features a guest appearance from larger-than-life actor Brian Blessed – cue shouts of “Gordon’s alive!”
Now you can check what the fuss is all about for yourself.

Seen these a few times and think they are a cut above anything in this genre the UK has produced. Would urge anyone to go to their website and check them out further. The debut album is extraordinary for a self financed effort.
