Track Of The Day: Pink Cream 69
Amazing to think that these German melodic rock gladiators have now been on the scene for 22 years. And they provide today’s Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
Yep, it was back in 1987 that frontman Andi Deris, who’s now with Helloween, started Pink Cream 69, together with drummer Kosta Zafiru and guitarist Alfred Koffler. Bassist Dennis Ward was quickly brought in to complete the line-up.
Over the past two decades, the band have released 10 studio albums. Now the new record – Live In Karlsruhe – is about to hit. And ‘hit’ is the right word, because this features the songs which have made Pink Cream 69 a major success in Europe, the ones that have captured the imagination of everyone who enjoys classy, classic tuneful rock.
These days, it’s British singer David Readman who fronts the band (he joined in 1994), alongside Ward, Koffler, Zafiru and guitarist Uwe Reitenauer.
The new boy, Reitenauer’s only been there for seven years, having originally been brought in because Koffler was suffering from a disease that affected his left hand.
It’s partly this consistency of line-up – only Deris has ever left – that explains why Pink Cream 69 are guaranteed to deliver every time.
Now Live In Karlsruhe, together with the double disc live DVD Past And Present, prove that this band are a helluva talent onstage as well as in the studio. Pink by name, red and raw by nature.
