London-based duo Phantom are to release their debut album, Smoke & Mirrors, on August 16. As a taster for what’s to come, they’ve given us the latest Track Of The Day. Check out all the Tracks Of The Day.
The duo of Elsie Martins (vocals/guitar/organ) and Jonny Martin (bass) met when Montreal-born Elsie gave up a promising career as a TV presenter to relocate to London. It was there that she met Jonny and, under the name of Phantom, they released debut single Great Pretender last September.
With nods towards Roxy Music, The Velvet Underground and Nick Cave, the band have been getting a lot of attention recently. It’s even been suggested that listening to them is the aural equivalent of watching a David Lynch film – praise indeed.
The duo have a launch gig for their album at The Lexington in London on August 24. Right now, to get into the mood, you may download the single Voodoo Romantic for free here.
