Track Of The Day: Nebula

They are among the pioneers of the stoner genre. They’ve been going for 12 years and have recorded some of the most important psychedelic-style music of the modern era. They are Nebula, who provide today’s Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.

Started by guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano after they quit Fu Manchu in 1997, Californians Nebula set themselves up as a trio with original bassist Mark Abshire. They remained with this line-up until Abshire left during the recording sessions for the third Nebula album, Atomic Ritual [released in 2003]. Subsequently he’s been replaced by Englishman Tom Davies. Romano recently quit the trio, with Adam Kriney coming into the Nebula fold.

While the stoner community has grown and diversified since 2000, Nebula have remained one of the few old-school bands of this style who have retained their integrity, yet moved with the times.

As current mini album Heavy Psych proves, they are definitely a band with a revitalised creativity and a determination to prove their worth up against any of the young pretenders.
