Track Of The Day: John Waite
John Waite has been a celebrated part of the rock scene now for close on 35 years – as a member of The Babys and Bad English, and also as a solo artist. Now, with a new live album just released, he provides Classic Rock‘s latest Track Of The Day. Check out all the Tracks Of The Day.
Waite fronted The Babys for five albums, from 1976 to their break-up in 1981. At which point he went on to have a successful solo career, spanning nine studio albums to date, and scoring a No.1 single in America in 1984 with Missing You. He would also top the charts with Bad English five years later with the song When I See You Smile.
Now he’s brought his entire career together on the live album In Real Time, which also features a storming cover of Led Zeppelin’s Rock & Roll.
“There are no gimmicks here,” says Waite. “No tricks. This is a straight-ahead, raw band, inspired by bands like Free and Humble Pie, who are real heroes to me.”
Waite’s new album has just been put out by Frontiers Records, and you can download the song Change for free at www.frontiers.it/intro/johnwaite01.mp3
