Track Of The Day: Hell City Glamours
They’re from Sydney. They play loud, trashy rock ‘n’ roll. And Hell City Glamours provide our latest Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
Hell City Glamours – Oscar McBlack (vocals/guitar), Mo Mayhem (guitar/vocals), Jonny (bass/vocals), Robbie Potts (drums) – look and sound like the sort of band who never take a smoking ban seriously, and know exactly what do with a good whiskey and a bad woman.
The music is exactly what you’d expect: it’s the Stones with a Stooges sneer and a hint of Hanoi Rocks glitz. Oh, and being Aussies, it’s all served up with more than a nod towards Rose Tattoo – you’d expect nothing less, right?
The band’s debut album, self-titled, is out now on Classic Rock’s own Powerage Records in the UK and Europe – and it’s dance music for perverts, reprobates and the general riff-raff on the street. You’ll love it.
Isn’t it about time that we had another bunch of bouncing boozers from Down Under who look the part, act the part and reach all the parts? Welcome to Hell City Glamours – it’s gonna be a rollercoaster ride.

I’ve seen this group live on two occasions and they were particularly disappointing at both. Not to mention; cliche.
To say “You’ll love it” is mistakenly presumptuous.
My experience was a confused mix of influences, with a setlist of songs that seem void of any variety, talent or excitement.
Considering the amazing bands coming out of Australia at the moment, I find it odd that Powerage Records have chosen to support this one.
I have seen these guys live around 8 times in 2009, and they are consistently one of the tightest and most entertaining rock’n'roll bands in Australia.
Bluesy, ballsy, and honest rock songs delivered with real punch and feeling.
For the genre, they are well above most of the rest of the local music scene.
I’ve seen ‘em a heap of times over the last few years..
20 or 30 times at least..
And yes, I second what Pete says… consistently excellent, great songs, awesome vibe and great delivery. I’d choose a glamours show over pretty much any rock band i’ve had the pleasure to see so far. Rock ‘n Roll doesn’t get much better than these lot, especially live.
