Taking time out from his duties with Judas Priest, Rob Halford has just released Winter Songs (on November 9), under the band name of Halford. It’s his celebration of the coming season of goodwill, with his metallic interpretations of Yuletide carols – or should that be Yelltide?!
“Well, I’ve always said I wanted to produce a Christmas CD,” says the man. “The Halford band has assembled a fantastic release, and we’re excited to have produced a collection of holiday tracks which all of us have enjoyed from a very early age.”
Among the songs to get the Metal Godly blessing are O Come O Come Emanuel, Winter Song, When Christmas Comes For Everyone, Light Of The World, What Child Is This and O Holy Night. Sadly, what isn’t include are Hell Bent for Santa, Defenders Of The Sleigh, Rein(deer)killer or You’ve Got Another Tink(erbell) Coming.
The first Halford album since 2002’s Crucible also features guitarists Roy Z and ‘Metal’ Mike Chlasciak, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and bassist Mike Davis.
