Track Of The Day: Grimmstine
Vocalist Steve Grimmett has one helluva history. Grim Reaper, Onslaught, Lionheart… he’s fronted them all. Now his latest band Grimmstine provide our Track Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
Grimmstine is a combination of Grimmett and guitarist Steve Stine, plus the rhythm section of the curiously named Hat on bass and sensibly monikered Dave Johnson on drums. It’s an Anglo-America alliance, with the latter three musicians all being former members of US band Sons Of Poseidon.
What do they sound like? Imagine Wolf with the grooves of Queens Of The Stone Age, and you’re not far off. This is power metal, but with some melodic rock pounding through the arteries, as well as a modern gift for keeping things less flamboyant for the sake of being flamboyant, which might have been the case in the 1980s when many of Grimmstine’s infuences walked the planet.
The band’s debut album – self-titled – has only just been released by Metal Heaven, and now they’re busy booking up a touring schedule for 2010, which will hopefully include a UK date or three.

They are great! Steve Grimmetts voice is the star of the show as always. What a voice, the best English ROCK voice there is next to David Coverdale.
Fantastic album. A great mix of metal and gorgeous ballads. Alot like the much loved and VERY MUCH MISSED ‘LIONSHEART’.
A UK TOUR WOULD BE NICE?
