Track Of The Day: Double Dagger
Come on in for today’s Track Of The Day from Double Dagger! Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.
Some songs you listen to and you think ‘hmm, yeah, that’s alright’. Then you listen again, and you think ‘hmm, actually, this is pretty good’. And then you listen for a third time and you just can’t stop hitting the ‘repeat’ button cos you realise it’s a little work of genius.
Well, that’s exactly what happened with Double Dagger’s The Lie/The Truth. The song from the Baltimore trio starts off with plaintive guitar chords – reminiscent of The Presidents Of The USA’s tongue-in-cheek classic Peaches – before morphing into a cacophonous noise fest beneath which a killer chorus is lurking.
The band – Nolen Strals (microphone), Bruce Willen (bass, microphone). Denny Bowen (drums), their descriptions, not ours – manage to make a right royal rockin’ racket with no guitar in sight. No mean feat!
But don’t take my word for it, check ‘em out for yourself with our FREE download of the track The Lie/The Truth…

This lot might be a new one on me, but apparently they’ve been kicking around the Baltimore DIY punk scene for a good while.
The Washington Post recently said of Double Dagger, “download, listen and fall in love…”. And frankly, I couldn’t have put it better myself..

They release their new album More on May 4 via Thrill Jockey.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here
I disagree. It’s true what they say though – give it a few listens, then it’s catchy as hell.
