Track Of The Day: Dirty Penny

If we tell you that this Santa Cruz gang are inspired by Mötley Crüe, Poison, Guns N’ Roses and LA Guns, then you’ll appreciate where Dirty Penny are coming from – and it ain’t genteel prog. So for all of you who love your rock with a touch of trash and a sliver of sleaze, Dirty Penny have provided the latest Track Of The Day. Check out all recent Tracks Of The Day.

Starting out as a Poison tribute band called Antidote, the foursome of vocalist Binge Daniels, guitarist Jonny Prynce, bassist Tyno Vincent and drummer Spanky Savage released debut album Take It Sleezy (well, all true glam bands misspell) in 2007, quickly proving to be more than mere revivalists.

Now, they’re back with second album Young & Reckless. Says Vincent of the band’s attitude: “We were into old-school punk, like Misfits, when we first got into music, then got into glam as a fuck-you to our hometown… But punk’s got a lot of rules, and that’s not very punk. Rock’n'roll doesn’t have any rules – everybody can do drugs or not do drugs or dress however they want.”

Great band!

I was in a LA a couple of years back and they were playing at a place called The Joint in Beverly Hills. They even had Motley Crue videos playing on the screens. Modern sleaze rock at it’s finest.

Also on the bill that night were a British band called Riot Noise who were touring with Tattooed Millionaires in the USA.

You guys should try and get a free Tattooed Millionaires track soon!

Great band agreed. I actually ran into one of their videos on accident online one day and i was hooked.
