Track Of The Day: Beggars & Thieves
Beggars & Thieves have just released their new album on Frontiers. They provide the latest Track Of The Day. Check out all Tracks Of The Day here.
The band released their self-titled, debut album in 1990, with a line-up that included one-time Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan. But their melodic rock approach proved to be out of step with the coming grunge phenomenon, and second album Look What You Create (produced by Jim Vallance) was shelved by the band’s label Epic, who subsequently dropped them. This album was finally released in 1997 by MTM Music, who put out The Grey Album two years later.
Beggars & Thieves then went on hiatus, returning in 2004 with original members Louie Merlino (vocals) and Ronnie Mancuso (guitar). Joined by Blake Newman (bass) and Eric Gloege (drums), they’ve just put out the album We Are The Brokenhearted. Says Merlino:
“I think the new songs show our potential to be a truly classic band and we both feel strongly that this is the best work we have ever done. We just hope people get the chance and take the time to really listen and absorb this as an album: This is an album designed to be listened to as a whole entity, not in shuffle mode on an iPod.”
