Based in New Jersey, Atomic Bitchwax started in the mid 1990s, put together by guitarist Ed Mundell of Monster Magnet and bassist/vocalist Chris Kosnic from Godspeed. Their first two albums – I (1999) and II (2000) – had a heavy bias towards psychedelic instrumentals. But with the arrival of Finn Ryan in 2003 (replacing Mundell), the three-piece (featuring drummer Bob Pantella) have moved more toward a traditional song-oriented approach, leading to the release last year of album simply called 4.

Quest For Fire come from Toronto. They’ve been compared to the Mahavishnu Orchestra, J. Mascis, Echo & The Bunnymen and Earthless. They feature Andrew Moszynski (guitar), Chad Ross (guitar/vocals), Mike Maxymuik (drums) and Josh Bauman (bass).

The band made their live debut in 2007 and released their self-titled debut album on the Montreal label Storyboard in 2008. Last year, this was given a much wider release on Tee Pee.
