From Hannover, Athorn feature the line-up of vocalist Carsten Frank (previously with power metal band Human Fortress), guitarists Stefan Schonebeck and Tobias Liedke, bassist Thomas Maiwald and drummer Soren Becker.
Thy combine classic and modern metal, having the riffs, the power and the melody. They describe their style as symbionic metal. Already favourably compared to Nevermore, whose guitarist Jeff Loomis was impressed enough to claim they were “Really fantastic”.
The band are only two years old, and released an EP titled Livable Hatred through their website (see below) last year. Now signed to AFM, they release debut album Phobia on September 20.
