Tracks Of The Day: Annihilation Time/Naam

The fine people at Tee Pee Records are just so good to us. Because there are still some more free downloads being offered by the label that promotes some of the coolest underground rock around. Annihilation Time and Naam provide the latest Tracks Of The Day. Check out all recent Tracks Of The Day here.

Annihilation Time combine 70s rock with 80s hardcore, in a mix that combines high-speed rhythms and duelling geetars. The band – from Oakland, California – started in 2001, featuring vocalist Fred Hammer, guitarist Graham Clise, bassist Chris Grande and drummer Jamie Sanitate. They quickly expanded to a five-piece with the arrival of second guitarist Tony Melino. A year later, Jimmy Rose and Shaun Filey replaced Hammer and Sanitate, respectively. The band underwent further changes in 2007, when Melino and Filey quit, with Noel Sullivan and Wes Wilson respectively taking over. Are you keeping up? There’ll be a test later.

Sadly Annihilation Time split up last year, but they left behind the Tee Pee album Annihilation Time III: Tales Of The Ancient Age. From this, you may download the song Bald Headed Woman at teepeerecords.com/sampler

Naam are a trio from Brooklyn, with a blissed-out, jam-friendly psychedelic approach. The band features Ryan Lugar (guitar/vocals), John Bundy (bass/vocals) and Eli Pizzuto (percussion). They describe their motivation as follows: ‘Disgusted by the lack of heavy, psychedelic rock and roll, we deliver our deafening sermon to bring a new dawn for all civilisation.’

Tony Melino was the drummer, Jamie came in on second guitar. Wes is the Worms brother and Noel was drumming for Holier Than Thou but had moved up to Oakland so it all made sense.
