Tommy Lee fan wanted photo in mortuary as he collected mum’s ashes
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has explained his online rant against fans who demand photo opportunities – saying it came after a receptionist in a mortuary asked him to pose while he was collecting his dead mum’s ashes.
He recently released a furious statement slamming those who want to take snaps in private circumstances, reporting: “I fucking love my fans. What I have a problem with is taking pictures. I hate it. It irritates the fuck out of me when people say, ‘You owe it to your fans.’ I don’t owe anybody anything.
“”You wouldn’t want a handshake standing at the pisser in the bathroom next to me, would you? Or when you’re eating a quiet meal with your family, some rude jackass comes up and asks for a picture. Just take a second and think: is this cool?”
Now he tells Fuse: “My mother passed away and I was picking up her aches to take them home to do a service.
“I’m at the mortuary. I’ve got my mum’s ashes in my right hand, and my girlfriend, I’m holding her hand with my left hand. We’re walking out and the fucking receptionist goes, ‘Oh my God, can I take a picture with you?’
“I looked at her and went, ‘I’m sorry, but I’d rather not.’ She was like, ‘Are you sure?’
“I’m fucking standing there with my mum’s ashes and it’s not the happiest day on the planet for me. I couldn’t believe it. I go, ‘Okay, that’s officially the most fucked-up thing that’s ever happened to me.’
“I sat in the car and I’m shaking. My girlfriend goes, ‘I’m sorry, honey,’ and I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say. I couldn’t believe a human being just did that.”
Lee adds that he later called the mortuary’s manager to explain what had happened. “I said, ‘I don’t expect you to fire her or anything – but that was the most disrespectful bullshit I’ve ever experienced in my life.’”
