There is way too much reading into this if you ask me. This is no different to Foxton & Butler doing the very successful "Of the Jam" gigs without Weller a couple of years ago. It's always a pleasure to see genuine artists play the songs they helped create / wrote / collaborated on.

For me, Lynott was "the greatest ever", but Gorham and Downey were the best at what they did too and they were a huge part (the backbone) of what made Thin Lizzy great! Phil Lynott, depsite his brilliance, needed the other pieces of the puzzle to make up a successful Lizzy in the first instance.

Around 8 years ago I passed up the chance to see a watered down version of Lizzy but now I have wised up and can't wait to see Gorham / Downey and even Wharton on stage together in Dublin, blasting out the songs they sweated blood and tears creating. Surely this can only be a most fitting tribute to the great man himself and only further emphasises that the great Lizzy / Lynott music lives on!

If I had one wish, I would love to see Robertson in the mix too but hey, you can't have everything. No mean line up however, with well acomplished and successful musicisions all round!

A Lizzy fans feast! Respect!!!

I saw Lizzy at the Manchester Apollo in 81 and 83 (17th November 1981, still got the ticket £4.50) . Still the best gigs i've ever been to but wished I could have seen them in 1977/78 when they were really at their peak (Live and Dangerous, Bad Reputation). I've never been tempted to go back, but something has made me buy ticket to Manchester. Maybe because Brian Downey has come back into the fold? His drumming always sounded great. I hope I'm not disappointed by what I hear in January. Still, it will be good to have a few beers in the pub round the back of the Apollo and remember the good times again before the gig. "The boys are back in town...."

"I saw Lizzy WITH Phil Lynott fairly late on, at Reading Festival, and Lynott had GONE! They weren’t Thin Lizzy THEN! LOL!
I don’t believe all this No Lynott-No Lizzy blx, though. That’s an insult to the rest of the BAND!"
.
Sorry Paul, I was there as well. Lynott had gone were ? His voice held up to his very last recordings...circa late 1985....

What Fake Lizzy have been doing the last few years is an INSULT to Philo.....

NO LYNOTT = NO LIZZY

I've never really been into Thin Lizzy myself and the only reason I'm checking them out on this tour is because Ricky's joined (and the fact the Supersuckers are support).
Can't be a bad thing can it!!!

I was lucky enough to see the real Thin Lizzy and find it very hard to see how they can call this Thin Lizzy. Phil Lynott was Thin Lizzy. It was his band, his voice, his bass. So if any one had any sense at all they would of got the singer out of limehouse lizzy to join to actually do this so called tour.

It's great to see te guys keeping Phil's memory alive. I disagree with thos who say Phil WAS Thin Lizzy. Now don't get me wrong, Phil was my childhood hero but come on, the BAND were special in more ways than just Phil's superb songwriting. The classic Lynott, Downey, Goreham, Robertson line-up was truly awesome and a force like that will not come our way again.
As for Sykes ... Well, I never like the pouting, poodle-haired, poser.. but that was a taste of what was to come in the form of 80's rock for you...crap.
I say keep rockin lads and all the very best to ya!
