Them Crooked Vultures – We’ve Heard The First Single

Classic Rock has heard the first single from Them Crooked Vultures – and it rocks a fat one.

Titled New Fang, it will be available for purchase from November 3. It’s heavily reminiscent of the Physical Graffiti era of Led Zeppelin, having an eastern touch and psychedelic pulse, all wrapped up in a funky blues style groove. The John Paul Jones touch?

It sounds like the best jams from Josh Homme’s Desert Rock Sessions series of albums.

The band have posted a version of New Fang on YouTube – and you can listen to it here.

Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut album is due out on November 16.

Cool track but production is bad especially vocals and cymbals – every band should learn from Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy how to mix album to have everything clear and great.

Guns n Roses Chinese Democracy? Really?!?!

I thought it was disappointing. Nothing wrong with it but nothing to blow your socks off either. Not sure how the writing credits were split but Josh Homme has such a distinctive voice that it sounds like the sort thing he writes in his sleep for QOTSA. Maybe it will grow on me but I have to say I was hoping for a bit more.

^ Yep. Really. It’s fantastically produced.

They’re just called Desert Sessions, Malcolm.
