Is Schenker back to his bad old ways again?

Is Schenker back to his bad old ways again?

Classic Rock just received a call from someone who was present at last night’s Michael Schenker gig at Swansea Sin City.

We quote:

‘The show was a complete shambles. Schenker made everyone wait about one-and-a-half hours hours (all 500 of them), then grabbed his guitar from his tech, looked at it and threw it into the cases on the side of the stage and stormed off.’

Sadly, it does appear that Schenker did indeed throw a wobbler. You can read a more detailed first-hand report of the gig here.

Let’s hope that Schenker isn’t about to break all the promises he made in his interview in the latest issue of Classic Rock…

The rumour mill suggests that the roadie had just told Herr Schenker that he was in Swansea, and that Mad Metal Mickey just Couldn’t Take Any More. With a cry of “Ich gehe etwas wütend. Wo mein Affe ist? Oder Peter Weise”, he ran for the hills.

Let’s not be too hasty here. The “wobbler” was right at the end of the set, so he only didn’t play the encore. He also, from other reports, played a blinder throughout the whole gig up to the point of the “wobbler”.

Give the guy a break eh?! Quick to print the bad stuff but not so quick to mention all the blinding gigs he has been playing in the UK throughout January and February…Have a look at the latest footage on YouTube for evidence of this.

Of course…if he doesn’t do the rest of the gigs then I’ll have major egg all over my face!

I’m not going to comment lol

I can only reiterate bomber’s review Michael was in superb form, he truly is a wonderful guitarist the 1st solo in attack of the mad axeman still amazes me after all these years, ive seen him about six times in various guises as MSG, but i have also seen him go off on one in at least half of them the sad thing is i will still be there on the next tour, but hopefully so will Gary Barden

Using Manchester 2000 as the benchmark for poor Schenker shows, this sounds like a good night that fizzled out. Blackmore does this sort of thing quite often. At least booze wasn’t to blame, so we’ll still see MS in Bristol. If he was able to enter a wine-bar and drink only fizzy H2O, he’s truly reformed.

Can we start a Schenker watch, as I am hoping to see the guy for the first time in years in Bristol , I am travelling miles on my own to see the legend and I hope the bloke is OK. Michael Schenker obviously has a very fragile personality and mental health issues so I just wish the guy all the best!

Andy – Will be at the Bristol gig with a mate or 2. If you recognise me – I’m the one with antlers (of course), I’ll buy you a drink.
