Tee Pee Tuesday: Lecherous Gaze
Lecherous Gaze provide the latest free song on our returning Tee Pee Tuesday, celebrating US stoner/psyche label Tee Pee Records. Check out last week’s Tee Pee Tuesday band here.
The Oakland band say they’re steeped in Jimi Hendrix fuelled guitar drama of 1970s rock, a massive Chuck Berry influence, plus the hirsute hardcore of Black Flag and the celebrated metal of Black Sabbath.
Put these altogether and you have the Gaze, who feature frontman Lakis Panagiotopulos, guitarist Graham Clise, bassist Chris Grande and drummer Noel Sullivan. It’s a pounding psychedelic haze form a foursome who can count Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis as a fan, especially of Clise:
“He was in Annihilation Time and now he’s in this band Lecherous Gaze. Annihilation Time were on Tee Pee, the same label as Witch (the stoner metal band for whom Mascis plays drums). Everybody really liked him, so now we’ve got him to be in Witch and in Sweet Apple (a Witch side project), because he’s up for doing whatever.”
Now you can get to hear what this band sound like, by downloading the song Phaze (from the demo Audio Testament) right here for free.
