Slash Says Fergie Rocks!
Slash has defended Fergie on his Twitter page – and we’re not talking about Sir Alex Ferguson!
The Black Eyed Peas singer appears on a new version of the Guns N’ Roses classic Paradise City, which is on the B-side of Slash’s Japan-only single Sahara.
Cypress Hill also appear on Paradise City – and a lot of diehard GN’R fans aren’t happy.
But the curly-haired guitarist has hit back:
“Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock’n'roll but she sings it better [than] most dudes I know. She’s a screamer at heart.”

Don’t think Fergie is the problem; she’s in key and singing well….I think the real problem is the whole Cypress Hill/Rap treatment of the song. It’s like when Jimmy Page remade “Kashmir” with P-Diddy; something I would rather forget.
Still, it’s a Japan B-side for a reason…a one off track. Personally, I’m not concerned. After all, I have Appetite right here if I should choose to listen to the “definitive” version.

I have heard the the slash, Fergie and Cypress hill version. I didn’t like it. Maybe because I am not a cypress hill fan. I heard Fergie sing sweet child o’mine.She did good and she can sing. I do give her that. Take Cypress hill out of the mix and it would be good. Sorry, Cypress hill
I heard fergie on the norway festival thing and she was awesome but it’s cypres hill that your fans are complaining about. I hope most of the solo album isn’t rap metal cuz this was just awful
Actually, I think the P Diddy/Page version of Kashmir was cool. But I’m really looking forward to the new Slash record. It’s gonna wipe its butt with “Chinese Democracy”.

Crikey! I really didn’t think I’d like Fergie’s voice but it’s actually superb. Why the Cypress Hill rap twattery though? That is truly woeful.
Give Fergie her due: she rocks man and ought to give Rock some consideration! I’m impressed.

Fergie ain’t that bad in studio. She can’t sing live, that’s for sure, but after some carefully chosen studio adjustments to her voice, it sounds sort of nice (just don’t mind the “so far away” part… it sucked).
Now, Cypress Hill? Come on?! It was like drinking boiling lemonade…
This is the best “Rap” song I ever heard, that Fergie can sing her ass off, even the Cypress Hill stuff ain’t too bad, once you get halfway through the rest of the song Rocks! I prefer the original N’n'R version for sure, but this is great too. Nice one Slash!
