Slash And Pals Rock Vegas
Slash & Friends played a two hour set on Friday, October 2 in Las Vegas.
The impromptu collection of stars gathered in the Bare Pool Lounge at The Mirage Hotel – part of the hotel’s ongoing 20th anniversary celebrations.
Joining Slash on stage, in front of audience of just 650, were Velvet Revolver pals Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, plus Joe Perry, Rick Nielsen, Courtney Love, Scars On Broadway vocalist and Las Vegas native Franky Perez. Also part of the event was slinky Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger, who currently dates Formula One world champ Lewis Hamilton.
The set list included War Pigs, Highway To Hell, Whipping Post, 20th Century Boy (sung by Love, complete with lyric crib sheet), Whole Lotta Love (an eyewitness report in the Las Vegas Sun said Scherzinger’s performance on this was sensational), Walk This Way (with Sen Dog from Cypress Hill duetting with Perez), Surrender, Toys In The Attic, It’s So Easy and Paradise City.
Astonishingly, Whole Lotta Love appears to be part of The Pussycat Dolls’ touring repertoire. Check out this YouTube video.
Supporting on the night were the Joe Perry Proect, who took the opportunity to play the classic Dream On, which amazingly wasn’t part of Aerosmith’s set the last time they played in the city.

Urgh. Those feline frollops didn’t half massacre a classic. The longer the Christina Aguilera-esque notes tore on for the more bile i felt rising in my throat. Maybe an acoustic version instead…or not
I went to this gig, everyone who played with him were awesome..
I think Franky Perez might be the new singer for Velvet Revolver.. I got the hint when the whole of velvet revolver turned up and played a bunch of VR songs with him singing.
