‘Scruffy Geezer’ In Record Shop Was AC/DC’s Jonno
A record shop owner in England’s Lake District got a big surprise when a “scruffy geezer” came to the counter with a copy of AC/DC’s monster hit album, Back In Black. Said geezer was none other than AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson!
The Carlisle News & Star website has the story:
All kinds of people browse through the records, books and antiques at Keswick Collectibles.
The man brought one record to the counter.
It was Back In Black by AC/DC.
Released in 1980, this is one of the best-selling albums of all time, having shifted something in the region of 40 million copies.
“Would you like me to sign it?” asked the customer.
“Er… who are you?” replied David.
“I’m the singer.”
Yes, the scruffy geezer was AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, whose gravelly voice is one of the most familiar in rock.
David was happy to let Brian sign the album and the signature quickly made the record a very lucrative item.
So lucrative that another customer offered to buy it there and then.
The price was raised from £8 to £25 and the deal was done.
Mark Stainton, another of the shop’s three co-owners, said: “David didn’t recognise him. He does the books, not the records. He wouldn’t recognise Madonna if she came in wearing a pointy bra.”

I would bet my money on some look alike playing silly buggers. I’m pretty certain the frontman of the worlds biggest rock band doesn’t walk into small record shops, pick up a copy of an album and then offer to sign it for no reason.
Brian’s a legend, if its true. That rocks! I’d have to say though i’d notice Madonna in a pointy bra though.
Think i’d prefer Brian in a pointy bra myself!
Madonna would just want to adopt me!
Brian loves Keswick !!! a couple of years ago me and my now wife were in a pub in Keswick waiting for a band to start and he was sitting behind me with his wife !! he was great craic.
