Saxon’s Biff Byford To Judge On X Factor?
Saxon frontman Biff Byford is being lined up to join the X Factor judging panel, according to a show insider.
“In the States, we’ve noticed how popular and successful Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has been on American Idol. So we think Biff would be a perfect addition to the X Factor here in the UK,” the source revealed.
“We’re keen to give the show a rockier edge,” the insider added, “and we’re sure Biff would take no prisoners. His blunt Yorkshire opinions would certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons.”
The last series of the X Factor had Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos from N-Dubz as judges. It is not known which one Byford might replace.
“Biff would be a controversial choice for the next series,” the source admitted. “But what people tend to forget is that Saxon have written and recorded a lot of highly commercial, chart-friendly songs. Denim And Leather and Strong Arm Of The Law, to name but two.
“Plus Biff has shared the stage with some of the greatest singers in rock – so he knows a good voice when he hears one.”
The Saxon camp has yet to comment on the X Factor speculation.
