Saraya Cancel Firefest Appearance
Saraya have cancelled their appearance a Firefest later this year – and the band are blaming singer Sandi Saraya.
This is what the band have to say about the decision: ‘When Kieran Dargan (Firefest promoter) first approached us with the idea of re-uniting after 20 years, we (the remaining band members) were all immediately on board. The question was whether or not Sandi, who now leads a very different and private life, would be into it. When she responded with an enthusiastic “definitely!” we were all surprised and delighted. However, nearly eight months later, and three months before the show, it seems she requires a great deal of money to do this. This is not what Firefest is about, and neither Firefest nor the remaining band members were willing to be put in such an unexpected and unpleasant position regarding the personal demands of our former singer’.
not surprised, shame really as she was a good singer from a cult rock band she can’t expect to be paid millions for a gig since she is not lady gaga
Sandi “Saraya” Kelly has been my best friend for over 40 years..she is the absolute most sincere, caring, loving person I have ever had the pleasure to know. She is a loving Mother and Wife and friend to many…Without even knowing the story I can tell you it would never be about money, she doesn’t care about “things” she cares about people…most of all her family. Red Rocker and whoever else has something to say…really? you are so wrong …you absolutely don’t know the facts. So the only real shame in this whole thing is that the world will not have the absoute pleasure of hearing her sing at Firefest! Love you Sandi!!
Yeah, a shame. Gaga and the like don’t get paid that much though. Record company and promoters do.
Either way, Saraya were the real deal, if they would’ve been promoted properly they could’ve dominated the world. I was looking forward to it, but I’m always skeptical when someone who has been out of the public eye for so long is said to return. Could’ve been great. Hope they can get it together, and that Saraya and band turn up somewhere, sometime.
thats a bummrer…. as for dropping out she is the voice and creative force i can understand about getting as much as you can because it is a buisness …but if you sign a contract or agreement which i think is the case here it was a poor decsion ….i never like it when athletes or performers dont honor contracts i hope they can re unite sometime a very creative band who had poor label support behind them
