Rose Tattoo Man Diagnosed With Cancer
Classic Rock is saddened to hear that Rose Tattoo guitarist and founding member Mick Cocks has been diagnosed with cancer.
The management of Australian rockers, Rose Tattoo have confirmed that Mick Cocks has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver.
Steve White, the group’s manager, said: “Mick has asked that I release this information to avoid the rumour mill taking control of the information. The situation is that Mick has been diagnosed with liver cancer and is now under the advice of the very best doctors in Sydney. Treatment plans are underway and Mick is in good spirits and ready for a fight.”
Cocks is the second member of the band to contract the disease – guitarist Pete Wells passed away in March 2006 after losing his long battle with prostate cancer.
Man – that sucks.

Good Luck to Mike in fighting this – brilliant band – remember seeing them for the first time support Rainbow, must be nearly 30 years ago now and they blew me away – loved them ever since. Kick some butt Mike!
So sad. I will hope and pray that he has a full recovery. Cancer is evil I hate it so much.
As a fan of the greatest rock band in the world( in my humble opinion) the news that Mick has cancer is terrible news.
The Tatts and fans are a family and we are all with Mick as he prepares for the big fight.

Just thought I’d mention that another founding member of Rose Tattoo, bassist Ian Rilen, who wrote the band’s first hit record Bad Boy for Love, also passed away in Oct 2006 from cancer. He had cancer of the bladder. R.I.P Ian.

Sadly the Tatts have an unusually high casualty rate. I think Dallas ‘Digger’ Royall was the first to go, with Pete Wells and ex-members Lobby Loyde and Ian Rilen following in fairly close succession. Seems somewone, somewhere doesn’t like ‘em. I wish Cocksy all the power in the world that he can buck the trend.
