Stones drop Beatles, add Chuck Berry cover

The Rolling Stones dropped Beatles cover I Wanna Be Your Man and added Chuck Berry track Around And Around to the set of their second-last anniversary show in the Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey last night.
The new number was chosen by a fan vote via the band’s official app. Another poll is being held to decide which of 12 songs the Stones will perform at the final show tomorrow.
Former member Mick Taylor made a third guest appearance and received rapturous applause after leading an extended version of Midnight Rambler, during which he traded solos with Mick Jagger on harmonica. Taylor will return on Saturday.
Earlier in the show, American blues star John Mayer guested on Respectable and Keith Richards sang Before They Make Me Run and Happy.
Meanwhile, Jagger’s former girlfriend Marsha Hunt has sold ten love letters from the frontman for £187,250.
The American singer, believed to be the inspiration for Stones track Brown Sugar, said financial problems forced her to part with the mementoes from the summer of 1969.
In the notes Jagger discusses poetry, books, a creative project which never took place, his split with Marianne Faithfull and the death of guitarist Brian Jones.
Hunt, the mother of his first child, says: “The passage of time has given these letters a place in cultural history. 1969 saw the ebbing of a crucial revolutionary era, highly influenced by the Beatles, James Brown, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones.
“Their inner thoughts should not be the property of only their families, but the public at large, to reveal who these artists were – not as commercial images, but their private selves.”
