Roger Waters: David Gilmour Blocked Pink Floyd Reunion
Roger Waters has revealed that he was up for a full-blown Pink Floyd reunion after the band’s Live 8 performance in 2005. But David Gilmour was having none of it.
Talking to Associated Press, the bassist/vocalist said:
“David is completely disinterested in anything like that. After Live 8, I could have probably gone for doing some more stuff, but he’s not interested, so it is what it is.”
Right now, Waters is busy working on a musical version of the iconic Floyd album The Wall. He’s been collaborating with writer Lee Hall, who did the musical Billy Elliot.
Rog recently explained why he was touring The Wall again with this statement on his website:
I recently came across this quote of mine from 22 years ago:
“What it comes down to for me is this: Will the technologies of communication in our culture serve to enlighten us and help us to understand one another better, or will they deceive us and keep us apart?”
I believe this is still a supremely relevant question.
That’s cleared that one up, then.
