Rocky Shades’ Wrathchild Off Hard Rock Hell Bill
Rocky Shades’ Wrathchild have been booted off the bill for the Hard Rock Hell III: The Vikings’ Ball.
The band were due to play on December 5, the final day of the event at Pontin’s in Prestatyn Sands.
However, the ongoing dispute between Rocky Shades and his former bandmates Marc Angel and Eddie Star over the ownership of the Wrathchild name has now scuppered the frontman’s chances.
A spokesperson for Hard Rock Hell told Classic Rock: “We were paying a proper fee for a re-formed Wrathchild and, as a result, were giving it a main stage slot too.
“All involved in Hard Rock Hell felt that without being able to use the name to advertise, and without more than one member of the original line-up in the band, what we were left with was simply not what we booked.
“It’s as if we had booked Genesis and got Phil Collins. Hence it was not a proper booking, to which the agent who booked it agreed too.”
Angel and Star recently announced that they now had the rights to the name ‘Wrathchild’, something Shades is determined to fight legally.

if the great Phil Collins on his own couldn’t claim to be Genesis Rocky Shades on his own sure cannot claim to be Wrathchild. point taken
shame on Psychowrath for scuppering the band playing at HRH. I don’t really care who was in the band was just looking forward to hearing those classic songs. I was going to go to the Rock Of Ages gig in London to see them but this is bad taste and a poor show. I’ll not be supporting either band now.
This is awful news, I know a fair few people that were looking forward to seeing Rocky singing those old tunes at HRH, this just doesnt seem fair. I have also seen Psychowrath and they have some goodtunes too, but they are not Wrathchild, they can’t be without Rocky. I hope he sorts this out and gets some decent shows next year, there are rumours about that Rocky is playing european festivals next year, I hope this is true. Psychwrath didnt want the bloody name, so why act like spoilt kids with a toy and fight over it now?

Having seen Shade’s version of Wrathchild I can only say that HRH is going to miss out on a damn good band and the weekend without Rocky is going to be a lot less fun.

Well – I hope Wrathchild ‘Evesham’ i.e. Psychowrath are happy. They are going to loose fans and audiences over this.
Rocky was Wrathchild. Period.
All I want to say on the matter is -Yes,it is a pretty crap thing to do to us,after so much hard work but,to be honest,they have inadvertently done the RSW camp a favour,as we can now forget rehearsing for this show,HRH3,and concentrate on finishing off our new album,The Biz Still Suxx.Best Wishes for a great Festival,good luck to Jim and Rogue Male.ROCKY.XXXX
I was realy looking forward to seeing Wrathchild with Rocky (the original singer!!) how sad that the other band has such sour grapes,and im sure that it will lose them alot of fans.Keep fighting Rocky!!!!!
It sounds like Psychowrath have an issue with this, I was looking forward to Hard Rock hell & seeing the end result of all the hard work Rocky & the guys have put into bringing the Wrathchild’s name back on the market. Phsychowrath need to step back & grow up.

I have read Wrathchild’s reasons for changing the name and it seems fair, Rocky is a frontman
and they don’t seem to mind him using Rocky Shades Wrathchild which is cool, when can we hear some of Rockys tunes I have heard that song when Rocky was RSW, Good Dead I think which didnt sound like the old wrath tunes in the slightest, so come on Rocky give the people want they want!
