Rock Video Games Sales Drop
It appears that rock video games aren’t as immune to the recession as many believe.
According to Reuters, profits in America for the year 2009 will be half those last year, when the industry raked in $1.4 billion.
One reason may be that the market is now saturated, with lots of different versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Even The Beatles’ version of Rock Band failed to make the million sales mark as expected, while even with the addition of a Kurt Cobain avatar to Guitar Hero 5 didn’t boost sales at all.
We wait to see how the just-released Guitar Hero: Van Halen does.
(And then of course there’s Guitar Hero: Marino to look forward to. That’s not Frank Marino, by the way. Lisa Doiminque fans will know what we’re talking about!)
