Robert Plant has revealed his ears bled for two days after seeing former Led Zeppelin bandmate John Paul Jones play with Them Crooked Vultures at the Royal Albert Hall.
Talking to The Independent newspaper, the singer said:
“I feel so far away from heavy rock now. It’s quite odd, how mine and John’s paths seem to have crossed over – we’ve sort of gone into each others’ worlds a bit.”
Plant releases new album Band Of Joy on September 13 and is touring the UK shortly.

What a travesty. One of rock greatest singers can’t even appreciate a rock concert anymore?
if there is a bigger t*t in rock i’d be surprised……oh hang on a sec….i forgot.Joe Elliot!
Well that’s really put paid to any Led Zep rumours!
Whuss !! If its too loud then your too old !!!
OH PLEASE,
His ears bled for 2 days, what a load of CRAP !!!!!!.
I hope is is not going to see Motorhead in December.
Sorry I forgot to say -
YET ANOTHER SPELLING MISTAKE – TAOKING !!!!!!
dont you people have spellcheck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a puss..
I’ve got an idea , why don’t we compile a list of the biggest wankers in rock music today , we could include for example , jon bon jovi , axl rose , robert plant , steve tyler……..etc,etc . Anyone got more to add to the list ?
the man is a legend, and will always be one of my favourite singers, he has the right to do whatever he now chooses, you lot need to learn some respect.
Mr. Plant, who truly is one of my favorite singers, is free to do or sing whatever he wishes — but those of us with “no connection” to bluegrass or folk or whatever are free to spend our CD and concert dollars elsewhere. I’ll pass on Band of Joy and pick up the new Accept disc on Sept. 14 instead.
TIME FOR THE FACTS! Even in 1975, 1976 when this LOSER tried to hit a high note, his voice would crack 5 different ways on one friggin note….all the while he twirled his goldie locks hair and sock in his front pocket. He was was alwasy the BAD part of Led Zep and he was carried for YEARS by his bandmates.
If he feels “no connection” then why pay attention to his music? If he has “no connection” why waste subscribers money that pay you for a ROCK magzine to talk with this guy? Mr. Plant, when you die sir…I will light up a spliff and party because you and your ignorant comments and opinions on rock music over the years have no barring on reality.
Led Zepplin = VASTLY overrated. By the way, Jason BURRIES his father on drums. Quite literally I might add.
Er, we know, Robert. We’ve known you to despise heavy rock for a very long time. So, um, why did the success of Whitesnake ‘87 bother you so much? Anything to do with the fact that singing heavy rock was too much of an effort?
Keith – Planty might get more respect if he showed more respect. All he does is slag, slag, slag, and we’re bored with it.
For god’s sake don’t take it so literally, all he meant was that it was bl**dy loud ( which it was, I went to see them too) and as someone who has moved on with his musical tastes, and as someone well into his 60s, he presumably didn’t enjoy it as much as other types of music he experiences these days – and probably did when he was in Zep as well. Let him have his opinion, he’s earned the right….
hes over the hills and far away-too old to rock n roll-
page where are you!!
Have to agree with, Keith. Robert Plant has earned our respects. Just think if The Beatles had bowed to pressure and gone and done another 2-3 minute pop track album instead of Sgt. Peppers? Robert’s doing his own thing – not wanting to stick to the cabaret circuit. Good article too – very informative and interesting.
what a mega-twat.
First off how dare any of you talk that way aabout
Plant hes a true hero he said when John died zepp was over and he has stuck to his world hasnt he?!!!
As for patrick cassidy wtf are you talking about
Freaking Steven Tyler Robert Plant Axl Rose (you where right about Fag Bon Jovi that dude is such a wuss and he isnt rock and I dont know why people
say he is just like poison and journey Give me a brake those losers are are p u s s y Pop)
are wankers?? give me a brake, Where do you get
off saying such a statement like that!
Its called respect maybe the haters should show some!
who cares – he sold out years ago. surely this mag
what a load of shit yeah must been REALLY LOUD HA HA
Although I have always suspected – as much as I like his music – that Percy is totally up his own arse (ditto Page by the way), he has a right to his own opinion and to do whatever he chooses! Although I suppose I would given that I too firmly believe that gigs CAN be too loud. If you can’t hear the detail of what is going on (i.e. it’s a distorted blur) it’s too loud. I must confess that ears bleeding for two days seems a bit unlikely though.
Robert Plant should get together with Richie Blackmore, they’ve both gone the same way.
Rock N Roll Junkie asks us to give him a brake. I recommend (Rob) Halfords.
Respect for Robert Plant…..thining….
It really does live up to the saying “if it’s too loud, your too old”
Any chance for a Farewell tour of Led Zeppelin, depends on Page, JP Jones and Bonham with ?
Its looks like Plant is never gonna front the band again if reformed. It looks like he has lost the passion for Led Zep and Rock Music.
You lot (with the odd exception) are truly missing the point!!!!!!! Since when did anything the press report become gospel!!! Without Led Zeppelin our genre of music would NOT be what it is today and if you really hate Zep or Plant so much why click on the link to the story???? Get a grip!!!!!!!
Percy does not need to adhere to ANY form of music he goes where is heart tells him unlike most of you numpties! open your ears to REAL music stop following the flock
All a case of personal opion I guess. Plant has always been known to speak his mind, that’s just who he is. I’ll reserve opinion on the Band of Joy until I hear them. Raising Sand I did not like and as a result didn’t go to the gigs.
What really get me though is Strange Sensation were truely a great band that really rocked it up …. the move from that to Americana i find a little bit puzzling but I guess as long a he is happy!!!!
Hey manontheedge… Practice what you preach about spellcheck. It’s not dont.. it’s don’t.. Don’t you have spellcheck??
TVC, really Rob. I saw them at Download, apart from Josh Homme (who is pretty terrible), they were pretty good. But goood enough to make your ears bleed, I dunno.
thesweetlady luck – I disagree, Led Zeppelin aren’t central to Rock music. Yes, they had a major influencebut as someone has said above, they are overrated (I wil admit that to anyone).
You lot need alot of respect ! Don’t forget the Plant came from a seed, and you are the dirt beneath the plant! If all you see is the now, you don’t respect the greats, and that is the way the people see you. Mabee ya should give up ya-all-sssssss History? AAAAAAAA!
Don’t Forget the ones who paved the way for you!
Respect all Music CBGB.
